Back to School!

So, I haven’t posted in a while because I was SWAMPED getting ready to start my MFA program.

(I’m not sure if I mentioned this in an earlier post but I am starting an MFA program to pursue an MFA in writing for children and young adults!)

The program is a low residency model which means I attend 2 residencies a year, one in the summer and one in the winter. Each one lasts about 10 days. For this specific program the summer residencies are in New Jersey and the winter ones are in Wroxton, England! (for those of you who know me, you know I’m OBSESSED with England, so this part of the program is pretty exciting for me.)

In between residencies you take two 8 week modules where you work with a mentor and a few other students to generate work and workshop it. The goal at the end of the program is to have a completed manuscript ready to send out to agents and publishers.

Overall it’s pretty exciting!

Right now I am at my very first residency! I just finished day 2 and have about a week left. It has already been so action-packed that it feels like I’ve been here for a week! I’m one of, if not THE youngest person here. Everyone is amazing. They’re amazing people and completely amazing writers. It’s terrifying.
I know I got accepted with these amazing people so that should tell me that I’m pretty good to… But I can’t help but feel like I’ll never be as good as these people.

I am equal parts terrified and excited about embarking on this adventure! I know this is what I want to do. I know what I want to write and why. I know exactly why I do this. I just hope I can be good enough to actually do it successfully.

Wish me luck!

Also, let me know what kind of content you

guys want to see from me!

Love ya!
